Swimmingly

I didn't realize it had been so long since my last blog update; that's a little disappointing. I'd been on a bit of a roll there for a while.

Well. Life update:

Being a small business owner is going well. Our fiscal year end was a bit of a learning curve, but we managed it and have come through the other side with more knowledge. I've got a new intern joining us for January, and I just hosted a very successful staff Christmas party where I was saying farewell to two staff members (one moving away, one retiring) and had to manage some complex relational dynamics. I'm actually fairly proud of myself for that.

On the writing side of things, I've managed to write about 5000 words through November (I ran a few virtual sprints for NaNoWriMo) and am actually kind of loving this silly new vampire story? And because I was getting so much actual writing done, I neglected this blog. I think this blog is a stand-in for when I want to keep up the discipline of writing regularly but don't have motivation for any of my actual writing projects.

I'm starting to learn how much of an introvert I really am, and am setting aside regular time to just let myself be introverted. Which is honestly a lot easier said than done. I've learned that, if I'm actually still enough, the ideas start to flow on their own. And that's a precious thing these days.

I'm thinking I might post my vampire story here, on the website proper, once I'm done. We'll see how far I get.

For now, things are moving along swimmingly. I'm socially tired, but I think that's to be expected with so much people-management currently. But things are flowing, and I'm grateful.
