Could the experience I believed was a Beginning actually have been only the dust cover, title page, and prologue? Only an introduction, an invitation, by the Author into Their world, and now I get to dive in to a New Chapter.
It seems the whole world has been waiting. I can feel it. We've been waiting with baited breath for whatever is next, and out into the world stage walks the Pope, humbly asking forgiveness of the Canadian Indigenous. Out step a few other Christian denominations, churches, and leaders - their soliloquy a public recognition of their wrongs. Earnest humility. Regret. Remorse. Grief. The earnestness is a good beginning.
When was the last time our world saw a humble Church? Accepting of their shame.
I don't usually talk religion here, but my writing is deeply spiritual. I'm deeply spiritual. And what I'm watching is a significant spiritual shift.
The whole world is about to begin a New Chapter, something we haven't seen for centuries - maybe even millennia.
The image that keeps coming to mind is of Aslan singing in the dark at the dawn of a new world - Narnia.
…Far away, and down near the horizon, the sky began to turn grey. A light wind, very fresh, began to stir. The sky, in that one place, grew slowly and steadily paler. You could see shapes of hills standing up dark against it. All the time the Voice went on singing…The eastern sky changed from white to pink and from pink to gold. The Voice rose and rose, till all the air was shaking with it. And just as it swelled to the mightiest and most glorious sound it had yet produced, the sun arose.
It's a little surreal, in an inexplicably comfortable way, to learn how to Listen, how to Follow, and then discover at the end of a long and arduous 2-year journey that it was actually a Healing journey I didn't know I needed. And, upon emerging, discover that much of the world has arrived here too.
I can say with confidence that I'm ready for my part of this New Chapter, whatever that will be.
